Eric Ravilious was a celebrated English painter, designer, and illustrator known for his distinctive watercolours of the British countryside and wartime scenes. Born in 1903, he became closely associated with the British Modernist movement and is especially admired for his evocative depictions of rural life, chalk downlands, and coastal landscapes, particularly here in East Sussex. 

His legacy endures in his timeless prints, illustrations, and designs — many of which remain beloved examples of 20th-century British art.
