OUR STORY
Closet & Botts is a partnership between old school friends, Chloe MacArthur and Harriet Maxwell. Chloe originally worked in a French patisserie in Brighton, whilst Harriet was a display artist for Anthropologie in London. They have always shared an eye for well-made, beautiful objects, and over the years have spent many cold mornings hunting through markets and car boot sales.
Closet and Botts came about after a particularly inspiring trip to Italy in their twenties. Tired of their current occupations, they both left their jobs on the same day, bought a van (The Pearly Queen), and spent the next 18 months learning their trade. They scoured the flea markets of Europe to bring home overlooked treasures to sell in pop-up shops and vintage fairs.
In February 2014 they opened the doors to their very own shop in an old pharmacy on Lewes High street Closet & Botts brings together an eclectic mix of vintage, new and handmade homeware, furniture and clothes. Vintage finds sit seamlessly next to new products making the look achievable at home.
After having to relocate in the summer of 2020, the same ethos has now been translated in their new space at 37 High street. What was originally a charming mens outfitters has now become the new home to their ever-changing collection. Luckily, it is directly opposite the old shop so not far to look!
Although a visit is a must, this online store is a great way to get a taste of what they do.
